Architectural Products of Virginia, “APV”, is an industry leader in commercial door, hardware distribution, and security integration serving the construction industry in Virginia, Maryland, and DC. Our headquarters are located in Ashland, Virginia. We are looking for a Military Sales Specialist.

With a focus on our current growth and leaning into our core value that Anything is Possible, we have an opening for a Military Sales Specialist to support our Sales Team.

WHAT IS A MILITARY SALES SPECIALIST AT APV?

The Military Sales Specialist plays an important role in the day-to-day operations of the company’s sales of doors, hardware, and security products and services. This critical position is the link between the end-user military customer and the company. End-user military sales are directly with the US Government or third parties representing the US Government for military or Veterans Administration installations. They do not include sales to general contractors for new construction or complete building renovations or additions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES HIGHLIGHTS

  • Outside sales calls including “cold” calls.
  • Maintaining existing customers’ accounts and developing new business for APV with key employees, customers, and vendors.
  • Interpreting the sales goals and objectives established by the Sales Manager and assuring that these objectives are used as guidelines for the day-to-day sales activities of the business.
  • Representing the company to customers and vendors, and in all other areas that impact the business.
  • Preparing estimates and quotations according to established guidelines.
  • Aggressively following up proposals and sales leads.
  • Managing orders/projects including preparation of submittals (if required), providing accurate and timely information necessary to process and ship orders, and communicating with customers to assure accurate and timely delivery.

MUST HAVE

  • High School Graduate (Some College Preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in sales to the US Government or relevant military experience.
  • Ability to get access to military installations.
  • Some basic knowledge of construction products.
  • Any appropriate and effective combination of any of the above.
  • Comfortable with use of technology, with good computer and mobile skills and the ability to embrace and adapt to changes to technology that is critical to how we work.
  • Good working knowledge of the primary Google business, productivity, and collaboration tools/software.
  • Good working knowledge of the primary Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check and other pre-employment screening.
